Split HDS-1™ Directional MWD Service
Split Collar Directional MWD & Gamma Ray
The Split HDS-1 is the latest innovation based on the dependable HDS-1 and MultiLink platform. The HDS-1S is a 16 ft. non-magnetic MWD collar specifically designed to allow the HDS-1 probe to be configured to include directional sensors, Gravity MWD™ (HDS-1G™) sensors, and/or gamma sensors. The Split HDS-1S system allows these sensors to be placed below other LWD sensors, positioning them closer to the bit. The advantage of this specialized system is that sensor offsets are now flexible allowing the operator to decide where each sensor is best located. For example:
Some LWD BHA’s resulted in directional sensors placed too far from the bit to steer effectively. Directional sensors can now be placed anywhere below the LWD toolstring.
Combined with the PathFinder DataLink stabilizer, BHA’s can now be customized to meet both directional and formation evaluation requirements.
